Robert Pattinson is set to reunite with director Christopher Nolan for a new film at Universal Pictures. This collaboration follows their previous work together on the 2020 film Tenet. Variety has confirmed that Pattinson will join a star-studded cast that includes Matt Damon, Tom Holland, Lupita Nyong’o, Anne Hathaway, and Zendaya.
The upcoming film is a follow-up to Nolan’s Oscar-winning drama Oppenheimer and is expected to start production in the first half of 2025. Pattinson has a busy schedule ahead; he is also preparing to reprise his role as Batman in a sequel to the 2022 blockbuster The Batman, produced by Warner Bros. Additionally, he will star in A24’s Primetime, a thriller inspired by the reality show To Catch a Predator, which will mark the directorial debut of Lance Oppenheim.
Pattinson’s next major release will be Mickey 17, directed by Bong Joon-Ho, set to hit theaters on April 18, 2025. This $150 million project is highly anticipated as it follows Joon-Ho’s Oscar-winning film Parasite.
Pattinson previously starred alongside John David Washington in Tenet, which was Nolan’s last film with Warner Bros. After a long partnership with the studio, Nolan’s relationship soured due to the handling of Tenet’s release during the COVID-19 pandemic. This tension led him to work with Universal for Oppenheimer.
Interestingly, Pattinson gifted Nolan a book of J. Robert Oppenheimer’s speeches as a wrap gift after filming Tenet. Two years later, it was announced that Nolan’s next project would be a biopic about Oppenheimer, the father of the atomic bomb.
Universal has scheduled the release of this new film for July 17, 2026, and it will be available in theaters and IMAX.
