SongVest, a company that lets fans and investors buy shares of music royalties, has opened the reservation period for “Queen SongShares.” From November 21 to December 5 at 8 p.m. ET, fans can reserve shares in four classic Queen songs: “Under Pressure,” “It’s A Kind of Magic,” “I Want It All,” and “The Show Must Go On,” as well as the soundtrack from the Bohemian Rhapsody film.
Although Queen recently sold their music catalog to Sony Music for over $1 billion, the royalties available through this offering come from the estate of their late co-producer, David Richards. Richards was known for his work with other artists, including David Bowie and Duran Duran.
Each reservation includes a digital and physical certificate of authenticity for the SongShares, a limited-edition challenge coin, and a display-only 7” commemorative vinyl. After the reservation period ends, the Queen SongShares will be submitted for SEC qualification for public sale. Royalties earned will be paid out quarterly.
Chris Richards, son of David Richards, expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to share his father’s work with Queen. He stated, “These SongShares are not just an investment; they’re an invitation for fans to hold a piece of Queen’s magic and my father’s creative spirit.”
Sean Peace, CEO of SongVest, emphasized the significance of Queen’s music, saying, “Freddie Mercury and Queen changed rock music forever. We’re honored to invite fans to share in that legacy and own a part of music history.”
SongVest has previously offered royalty shares from other popular artists such as Beyoncé, Kelly Clarkson, and Eminem. With this new initiative, fans have a unique chance to connect with Queen’s enduring legacy while participating in the music industry.
