Matt Healy, frontman of the British band The 1975, is preparing to release new music that reflects his brief but high-profile relationship with pop superstar Taylor Swift.
On her 2024 album The Tortured Poets Department, Swift hinted at the complexities of their romance, which lasted for about a month in mid-2023. Songs like “But Daddy I Love Him,” “Guilty as Sin,” “Fresh Out the Slammer,” and “The Smallest Man Who Ever Lived” have been widely speculated to be inspired by Healy, marking a lyrical exploration of their short-lived affair.
Their brief romance followed Swift’s split from actor Joe Alwyn, a subject also explored on the album, and occurred just before she entered a relationship with NFL player Travis Kelce.
Now, Healy is set to offer his own perspective. According to The Sun, his band is working on their sixth album, which will feature a track that touches on his connection with Swift. The song, titled “God Has Entered My Body,” is rumored to include the line: “Keep your head up Princess, your tiara is falling.” Sources from Healy’s record label suggest that while Healy will not comment publicly on his personal relationships, his music will serve as his form of expression.
The 1975 has not released a new studio album since Being Funny in a Foreign Language in 2022. The band, which was formed in Cheshire, UK, in 2002, is also rumored to headline this year’s Glastonbury Festival. The band’s name was inspired by a date inscribed in a copy of Jack Kerouac’s On the Road, which Healy had acquired.
