ABC has officially greenlit a second season of the hit procedural series High Potential.
The show, which premiered in September, is gearing up for the tenth episode of its debut season, set to air on January 21. The upcoming episode’s logline teases: “A nanny is found bludgeoned to death in a park. Meanwhile, Morgan intervenes when Elliot reveals he wasn’t invited to a classmate’s party.”
High Potential is adapted from the French series Haut Potentiel Intellectuel (HPI). The American version stars Kaitlin Olson as Morgan, a single mother with a 160 IQ. Morgan works as a cleaning lady for the LAPD until her extraordinary intelligence leads her to solving complex crimes. Alongside Olson, the series features Daniel Sunjata as Karadec, Javicia Leslie as Daphne, Deniz Akdeniz as Lev “Oz” Ozdil, Amirah J as Ava, Matthew Lamb as Elliot, and Judy Reyes as Selena.
The show has captured a strong following since its debut, with the pilot episode amassing nearly 30 million viewers across all platforms, according to ABC.
Drew Goddard adapted the series for American audiences and serves as an executive producer under his Goddard Textiles banner, alongside Sarah Esberg. Todd Harthan, who also acts as showrunner, executive produces, with Olson contributing as a producer in addition to her starring role. The series is produced by 20th Television, with Harthan working under an overall deal at the studio.
This renewal follows another announcement from ABC today, confirming that the single-camera comedy Abbott Elementary will return for a fifth season. Olson and her It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia castmates recently made guest appearances on Abbott Elementary.
