Freestyle Digital Media Acquires ‘Lady Like’: Documentary on ‘RuPaul’s Drag Race’ Star Lady Camden Set for January 2025 Release.
Freestyle Digital Media has acquired “Lady Like,” a documentary focusing on Lady Camden, a standout from Season 14 of “RuPaul’s Drag Race.” The film is set for release in North America on January 3, 2025, for digital rental and purchase, with a DVD release following on January 7, 2025.
Directed by Luke Willis, “Lady Like” premiered at the BFI Flare London LGBTQIA+ Film Festival, where it was featured as the closing night screening in March. Willis co-wrote the film with Carter Feuerhelm and produced it alongside Cookie Walukas.
The documentary chronicles the journey of Lady Camden, whose real name is Rex Wheeler. Born in London and now based in San Francisco, she gained international recognition during her time on “Drag Race” in 2022. The film also includes narration by fellow contestant Nina West and features Shiloh Clarke.
Willis expressed his personal connection to Camden’s story, stating, “Following Lady Camden over the past few years through her rise to international fame has been an incredibly healing journey for me. Her quest for sanctuary in theater resonates universally, as it reflects the search for belonging that many experience.” He hopes viewers will connect with Camden’s journey and find inspiration to persevere in their own lives.
Freestyle Digital Media, part of Allen Media Group, negotiated the distribution deal with Glen Reynolds from Circus Road Films.
