Gravitas Ventures has secured the U.S. and Canadian distribution rights for Delaney Buffett’s upcoming film Adult Best Friends, following its debut at the Tribeca Film Festival.
Adult Best Friends centers on a woman who embarks on a weekend getaway with her co-dependent best friend, intending to announce her upcoming marriage. As the two women, who are navigating their 30s, find their lives diverging, the trip takes unexpected turns, including a chance encounter with a former classmate and a bachelor party.
Buffett co-wrote the film with her real-life best friend, Katie Corwin, who also stars in the movie alongside Zachary Quinto (Brilliant Minds), Mason Gooding (Scream), and Cazzie David (The Umbrella Academy).
Bill Guentzler, Senior VP of Acquisitions and Operations at Gravitas Ventures, expressed enthusiasm about the acquisition, stating, “Gravitas is thrilled to be releasing Delaney Buffett’s Adult Best Friends to North American audiences. Premiering at Tribeca 2024, this heartfelt and hilarious comedy captures the complexities of friendships evolving over time. The chemistry between Buffett and Corwin is truly the film’s standout.”
Quinto also serves as an executive producer alongside Evan Arnold, Adam McCurdy, and Corwin. Marie Nikolova and Buffett are producing for Coffin Watson and Before The Door Pictures.
