Bollywood actor Sonu Sood is stepping behind the camera for the first time in his directorial debut, Fateh. The teaser for the action thriller, unveiled by Zee Studios and Shakti Sagar Productions, has already generated significant buzz among fans.
The film follows an ex-special ops operative, played by Sood, as he investigates a dangerous cybercrime syndicate after a young woman falls prey to a scam. Sood not only directs but also stars in the lead role, alongside an impressive cast that includes Jacqueline Fernandez (Kill Em All 2), Vijay Raaz (Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3), and Naseeruddin Shah (IC 814: The Kandahar Hijack).
One of the standout features of Fateh is its high-octane action sequences, which are choreographed by a team of renowned Hollywood professionals. The action is led by fight coordinator Federico Berte (Cobra Kai), fight choreographer Filip Ciprian Florian (The Woman King), and stunt coordinator Lee Whittaker (Captain Marvel). These collaborations promise to bring a new level of intensity to the film’s already gripping storyline.
Sood, a well-known figure in Indian cinema, is celebrated for his roles in blockbusters like Dabangg, Happy New Year, and Kung Fu Yoga. He also gained widespread admiration for his humanitarian efforts during the COVID-19 pandemic, where he played a key role in organizing transportation and medical aid for migrant workers. Most recently, he appeared in Samrat Prithviraj and Acharya across various regional film industries, including Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, and Kannada.
The plot of Fateh tackles timely and important issues such as digital security and online fraud, a subject that resonates with many in today’s increasingly connected world. The film’s release is scheduled for January 10, 2025.
Speaking about his directorial venture, Sood shared, “The love I’ve received from the audience over the years is extraordinary, and it’s that love I’m counting on as the teaser of Fateh finally drops. This film is incredibly special to me – not only because it marks my debut as a director but also because it raises awareness about the growing threat of cybercrimes, an invisible battle that many of us underestimate. The heart of the film lies in its cutting-edge action, which shows the ultimate clash between the real and the virtual. This one’s for all the heroes out there who fight the battles we don’t often see.”
