A24 has released the full trailer for The Brutalist, a historical epic directed by Brady Corbet, following a teaser released last month. The film, which has garnered significant attention, is making waves after securing multiple Golden Globe nominations on Monday.
The trailer offers a deeper look into the performances of Adrien Brody, who stars as the Jewish architect László Toth, alongside Felicity Jones, Guy Pearce, and Joe Alwyn. The Brutalist centers on Toth, an immigrant who moves to the U.S. after World War II and finds his architectural skills appreciated by the powerful aristocrat Harrison Lee Van Buren, played by Pearce.
The film, shot in VistaVision, will have a limited 70mm release in New York and Los Angeles on December 19, with a wider release planned for January. It first premiered at the Venice Film Festival, where Corbet won the Silver Lion for Best Director. The three-hour-long drama, which includes a 15-minute intermission, also screened at the Toronto International Film Festival and the New York Film Festival before A24 acquired it in September.
The Brutalist is now a strong contender in the awards season. In addition to its Golden Globe nominations for Best Drama, Best Actor in a Drama (Brody), and Best Supporting Actress (Jones), the film also earned nods for Best Supporting Actor (Pearce), Original Score, Screenplay, and Director. Last week, the New York Film Critics Circle named it the best film of the year, with Brody receiving the Best Lead Actor award.
