Disney’s Moana 2 has remained at the top of the U.K. and Ireland box office for the second consecutive week, earning £6.9 million ($8.8 million) in its latest weekend, according to Comscore. This brings the film’s total to £21.5 million ($27.4 million).
Meanwhile, Universal’s Wicked continues to show strong performance in its third week, grossing £5.3 million. The musical’s cumulative total now stands at £37.7 million.
In third place, Paramount’s Gladiator II earned £1.6 million in its fourth weekend, bringing its total to £26.6 million. Paddington in Peru, from Studiocanal, also held steady, making £1.2 million in its fifth week for a total of £29 million.
Indian film Pushpa 2 – The Rule, starring Allu Arjun, debuted at number five with £1.1 million, while the Christmas concert film Andre Rieu’s Christmas Concert: Gold and Silver, from Piece of Magic Entertainment, opened in sixth place with £931,024.
Black Bear’s Conclave earned £779,764 in its second weekend, bringing its total to £2.7 million. Warner Bros.’ Red One added £454,458 to its total in its fifth week, now at £7.2 million. New releases Nightbitch (Disney) and Solo Leveling – ReAwakening (Sony) rounded out the top 10, grossing £133,976 and £112,242, respectively.
Looking ahead, this week’s notable releases include Sony’s Kraven the Hunter, based on the comic book character, and Warner Bros.’ Lord of the Rings: The War of the Rohirrim.
Other releases include the Venice and Sitges-winning thriller The Universal Theory, which Picturehouse Entertainment will bring to select theaters, as well as Mubi’s Queer, starring Daniel Craig and directed by Luca Guadagnino, which will open wide.
Additional films hitting the market include Beam Films’ Sundance-winning drama Sujo, Magnetes Pictures’ Polish Film Festival-winning biopic Simona Kossak, and Dogwoof’s The Bibi Files, a documentary about Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and the corruption charges against him.
In the specialized market, Dartmouth Films’ From Roger Moore With Love, a documentary featuring interviews with Joan Collins, Christopher Walken, and Pierce Brosnan, will be released. Special event cinema includes the Royal Opera House’s Cinderella and the K-pop concert film NCT DREAM Mystery Lab: DREAM( )SCAPE from Trafalgar.
