Mariah Carey will take center stage this Christmas by opening Netflix’s NFL Christmas Gameday on December 25th, cementing her title as the “Queen of Christmas.” The pop icon will deliver a special recorded performance of her holiday classic “All I Want for Christmas Is You,” setting the festive tone before the day’s football action.
The Christmas Day doubleheader features two highly anticipated NFL games. At 1 p.m. ET, the Kansas City Chiefs, reigning Super Bowl champions, will face off against the Pittsburgh Steelers. This will be followed by a 4:30 p.m. ET matchup between the Baltimore Ravens and the Houston Texans.
But Carey isn’t the only star gracing Netflix’s Christmas stream. Beyoncé will also perform a live halftime show during the Ravens-Texans game, adding to the holiday spectacle. With Taylor Swift’s rumored connection to Chiefs’ tight end Travis Kelce, fans are speculating that Swift might make an appearance as well.
Carey’s appearance comes on the heels of her biggest Christmas tour to date, as she celebrates the 30th anniversary of her landmark holiday album Merry Christmas. The album’s hit single, “All I Want for Christmas Is You,” has achieved a remarkable 16-times platinum certification by the RIAA, making it the highest-certified single from a female artist.
Alongside the Netflix special, the Christmas Day NFL games will also air on local CBS affiliates in the cities of the competing teams (Kansas City, Pittsburgh, Baltimore, and Houston) and will be available for streaming on NFL+ for mobile users in the U.S.
The NFL Christmas Gameday event is part of a three-year partnership between Netflix and the NFL. The deal, reportedly worth $150 million, will see Netflix broadcast at least one holiday game in 2025 and 2026.
