Jill Jacobson, an actress celebrated for her roles in Star Trek: The Next Generation and the soap opera Falcon Crest, passed away on December 8 in Los Angeles at the age of 70.
Jacobson’s death was confirmed by her publicist, Daniel Harary, who said she had been battling a prolonged illness.
After earning a degree from the University of Texas in Austin, Jacobson moved to Los Angeles to pursue an acting career. She first gained attention in the title role of Nurse Sherri before going on to appear in numerous television shows. In addition to Star Trek: The Next Generation, Jacobson had roles in Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, Days of Our Lives, Hung, Newhart, Castle, and Who’s the Boss?
She is perhaps best remembered for her recurring roles as Erin Jones on Falcon Crest and Larue Wilson on The New Gidget, appearing in 22 episodes of Falcon Crest and 8 episodes of The New Gidget.
Caryn Richman, her co-star on The New Gidget, shared her memories of Jacobson, saying, “Jill’s comic timing was brilliant. And her enthusiasm and love of life made our time together on set joyful.”
Jacobson’s career also included roles in Crazy Like a Fox, Quantum Leap, Arliss, and Murphy Brown. She appeared in films such as Ron Howard’s Splash, Bad Georgia Road, Forbidden Love, and Baby Sister. Additionally, she performed in stage productions and showcased her stand-up comedy at renowned venues like The Improv and The Comedy Store in Los Angeles.
Outside of acting, Jacobson was also a passionate spokesperson and volunteer for the American Cancer Society.
