CBS has released a teaser for its highly anticipated daytime soap opera Beyond the Gates, marking the network’s first new daytime broadcast soap in years. Set to replace The Talk in 2024, the show is the inaugural project from a joint venture between CBS Studios and the NAACP.
Beyond the Gates is set in a luxurious Maryland suburb near Washington, D.C., in one of the wealthiest African American counties in the U.S. The series centers around a prestigious family, the Duprees, who are considered “Black royalty.”
Living in a gated community, the family seems perfect on the outside, but behind closed doors, secrets and scandals lurk. The drama unfolds within this affluent world, where the lives of those who “have it all” intertwine with those who are still striving for success.
The show will explore themes of wealth, love, and power, focusing on characters who navigate life’s challenges with varying degrees of success. The drama promises juicy revelations as characters deal with love, betrayal, and ambition in their quest for personal and professional fulfillment.
The series, created in partnership with P&G Studios, is set to premiere on February 24, 2024. It will air weekdays at 2 p.m. ET/1 p.m. PT on CBS, with episodes also available for streaming on Paramount+.

Adam Harman Appointed Senior VP of Programming at E.W. Scripps Company
The E.W. Scripps Company has appointed Adam Harman as its new Senior Vice President of Programming. Harman, who brings over two decades of experience in the media and entertainment industry, previously worked at A+E Networks for 11 years, most recently as Vice President of Strategy and Acquisitions. He has also held roles at NBCU’s Style Network and Hallmark Channel.
In his new role, Harman will oversee programming and content acquisition for Scripps’ portfolio, which includes the Ion broadcast network. His extensive industry experience and strong relationships are expected to help guide Scripps in its ongoing effort to adapt its content strategy and connect with viewers across various platforms.
Keisha Taylor Starr, Chief Marketing Officer and General Manager of Scripps Networks, praised Harman’s leadership skills, saying, “Adam has the ability to seek out the bold and impactful content consumers crave, and his industry relationships will help Scripps continue delivering it to our audiences wherever they tune in.”
Hilary Shor Joins The Network as Head of Production
The Network has also announced the hiring of veteran producer Hilary Shor as its new Head of Production. With over 25 years in the industry, Shor has produced notable films such as Children of Men and The Paperboy. She has also worked alongside director Lee Daniels on films like The Deliverance, The United States vs. Billie Holiday, and The Butler.
Shor, who is a longtime collaborator with Aram Rappaport, founder of The Network, expressed her excitement about joining the team. “I am thrilled to be officially joining the team at The Network. Aram and I have collaborated on a number of projects, and I believe in the approach he’s taking to create premium content that speaks to consumers and allows artists to explore new creative territory.”
Before her new role, Shor was president of production at Hit and Run Productions, where she worked on Disney animated films like Tarzan and Brother Bear.
