Keanu Reeves has opened up about the potential for a fifth installment in the John Wick franchise, hinting that it may not be in the cards—at least for now.
The 60-year-old actor, currently promoting Sonic the Hedgehog 3, spoke with CBS News about the prospect of reprising his iconic role as the legendary assassin. While he didn’t completely rule out the idea, Reeves admitted that physical limitations might be a challenge.
“You can never say never,” Reeves said when asked about John Wick 5. However, he quickly added, “My knees right now are saying ‘I can’t do another John Wick.’”
Despite the physical strain of the intense action scenes, Reeves expressed that his passion for the character remains strong. “My heart does, but I don’t know if my knees can do it,” he noted.
While he didn’t confirm or deny a return to the franchise, Reeves will appear as John Wick in the upcoming Ballerina spin-off film, starring Ana de Armas in the lead role.
In addition to his John Wick cameo, Reeves is also voicing the character of Shadow in Sonic the Hedgehog 3, alongside an ensemble cast that includes Ben Schwartz, Idris Elba, and Jim Carrey.
The John Wick universe is also expanding, with a fourth film recently confirmed. Sonic the Hedgehog 4, featuring Shadow, is expected to hit theaters in Spring 2027.
