Stray Kids have claimed the top spot on the Billboard 200 this week, marking another milestone in their impressive rise within the global music scene. The K-pop sensation’s latest album, Hop, has debuted at No. 1, securing the group their sixth chart-topping album in the U.S.
The success of Hop is fueled by strong sales, with the album shifting 187,000 equivalent units during its first tracking week. Of those, 176,000 were direct sales, while the remainder came from streaming. This impressive number not only places Hop at the top of the Billboard 200 but also propels it to No. 1 on the Top Album Sales chart.
In second place on the Top Album Sales chart is Taylor Swift’s The Tortured Poets Department. Despite being released earlier this year, Swift’s album remains popular, selling nearly 50,500 copies last week. However, Stray Kids outsold Swift’s album by more than three times.
While The Tortured Poets Department has had a remarkable run, it still holds the title as the bestselling album of the year in the U.S., with 3.431 million copies sold since its release, according to Luminate. Despite a significant 74% drop in sales compared to the previous week, it continues to outpace many other popular albums.
Stray Kids’ Hop not only dominated Swift’s release but also surpassed the next six bestselling albums combined on the Top Album Sales chart. This includes releases from artists like Billie Eilish, Sabrina Carpenter, Chappell Roan, Snoop Dogg, and even the Wicked soundtrack.
The success of Hop highlights Stray Kids’ growing influence in the global music landscape, with the group consistently drawing strong fan support and setting new benchmarks in the industry.
