Elon Musk has publicly shared a post from Senator Marsha Blackburn, criticizing the FBI’s New Orleans office for wearing Taylor Swift-inspired bracelets. Blackburn, who has openly opposed Swift, shared a photo of FBI agents displaying the bracelets, questioning the agency’s priorities.
“This is what the FBI New Orleans has been doing,” Blackburn wrote, pointing to the image of the agents. She further urged, “Return the FBI to its mission of investigating criminals and terrorists,” in reference to the tragic terror attack in New Orleans earlier that morning, which resulted in 15 deaths, over 35 injuries, and two police officers being shot.
The post, originally shared on October 27, 2024, by the FBI New Orleans Twitter account, was later reposted by Blackburn. The FBI’s original post read, “FBINewOrleans thanks all our new friends/Swifties who provided a little extra gear to our folks this weekend! Everything goes with camo.”
The attacker, Shamsud Din Jabbar, who drove into the crowd, was identified by authorities. FBI Assistant Special Agent-in-Charge Alethea Duncan confirmed Jabbar’s identity during a press conference Wednesday.
Jabbar, a U.S. citizen from Texas, died at the scene of the attack. Duncan stated that Jabbar was an Army veteran, and authorities are verifying his discharge status.
Investigators are looking into whether Jabbar acted alone. According to The New York Times, Jabbar’s first marriage ended in divorce in 2012, and his second marriage dissolved in 2022. He had two children with his second wife.
