Lady Gaga and Bruno Mars’ collaboration, “Die With a Smile,” has reached the top spot on the Hot 100 chart after 20 weeks. The track first debuted at No. 3 in late August and climbed to No. 2 in November before securing its place at No. 1.
In its ascent to the top, “Die With a Smile” garnered 59.7 million radio airplay impressions and 27 million official streams. Its 20-week journey to No. 1 marks the longest time taken for a single to reach the top in recent months. The previous record was held by Teddy Swims’ “Lose Control,” which took 32 weeks to reach No. 1 in March. Currently, “Lose Control” holds the No. 4 spot.
Meanwhile, SZA’s album SOS remains at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 for a second consecutive week. The album’s deluxe version, SOS Deluxe: Lana, released on December 20, includes 15 additional tracks. With 130,000 album units and 166 million streams, the reissue pushed SOS back to the top nearly two years after its initial release. The album’s 12 weeks at No. 1 now make it the longest-running R&B/hip-hop album by a woman since Whitney Houston’s self-titled album in 1986.
SZA recently teased more content from the deluxe version, including three unreleased tracks — “Take You Down,” “PSA,” and “Open Arms” — sharing that she was awaiting official release after the label returned from their winter break.
After the holiday season, which saw Christmas albums dominate the charts, Kendrick Lamar’s GNX has returned to No. 2 with 70,000 album units sold. Lamar’s surprise album release debuted at No. 1 in November and became his fifth album to top the chart.
The rest of the Top 10 on the Billboard 200 features a range of Grammy-nominated albums. Sabrina Carpenter’s Short n’ Sweet holds the No. 3 spot with 56,000 units, and Carpenter is up for multiple Grammy awards this year, competing in all major categories, including Record, Song, and Album of the Year. Her label mate, Chappell Roan, sits at No. 7 with The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess.
Other notable albums in the Top 10 include the Wicked soundtrack at No. 4, Billie Eilish’s Hit Me Hard and Soft at No. 5, Taylor Swift’s The Tortured Poets Department at No. 6, Morgan Wallen’s One Thing at a Time at No. 8, Gracie Abrams’ The Secret of Us at No. 9, and Tyler, the Creator’s Chromakopia at No. 10.
