The 36th Annual Palm Springs International Film Festival (PSIFF) has announced its juried award winners. The festival, which took place from January 2 to 13, 2025, featured 165 films from over 71 countries, including 68 premieres. The selection included 35 submissions for the Academy Award for Best International Feature Film, along with other programs such as Talking Pictures, New Voices New Visions, and Queer Cinema.
In addition to the top honors, PSIFF has already named the recipients of the Desert Views Award, Young Cineastes Award, and Bridging the Borders Award. The Audience Awards for Best Narrative Feature and Best Documentary Feature will be announced on the evening of January 12.
The FIPRESCI jury, which evaluated the international submissions, was composed of Canadian film critic Brian D. Johnson, Brazilian critic Marcelo Janot, and Italian critic Paola Caseslla. This distinguished group reviewed 35 films chosen for this year’s festival, which also served as a platform for showcasing the Academy Awards’ International Feature Film contenders.
