Red Velvet’s Joy has extended her partnership with SM Entertainment, following in the footsteps of her bandmates Irene and Seulgi. The K-pop idol has renewed her contract, marking a continued collaboration after a decade of success together.
On January 14, Korean media outlets confirmed that Joy had officially renewed her contract with SM Entertainment. Reflecting on her long-standing relationship with the agency, Joy shared her gratitude, saying, “I had in-depth conversations with those who have been with me for 10 years, based on trust and belief. I realized I wanted to move forward together in a positive direction. I will do my best to show my fans different sides of myself through positive synergy with SM.”
SM Entertainment also expressed their commitment to supporting Joy, both as a Red Velvet member and as a solo artist. In particular, the agency highlighted her growing focus on her acting career.
Joy, who initially debuted as the youngest member of Red Velvet before Yeri joined in 2015, first rose to prominence through her appearance on the popular reality show We Got Married in 2015. Paired with BTOB’s Yook Sungjae, their on-screen chemistry won the hearts of many viewers.
In 2017, Joy ventured into acting, starring in tvN’s The Liar and His Lover. Her performance was widely praised, and she has since built a diverse acting portfolio with roles in The Boy Next Door, Tempted, The One and Only, and Once Upon a Small Town.
In addition to her acting, Joy made her solo debut in 2021 with the album Hello, further solidifying her star status with her soulful voice and iconic charm. As she embarks on this next chapter with SM Entertainment, fans can look forward to more exciting projects from the multi-talented artist.
