Freestyle Digital Media has secured the rights to distribute Clone Cops, an independent comedy that follows a group of outlaws facing a relentless wave of advanced law enforcement within a fictional dystopian streaming series called CrimeTime360. The film will be available for video-on-demand and DVD release starting January 31.
Directed by Danny Dones, Clone Cops began its theatrical roadshow this month, debuting with a special screening in Philadelphia. It has since made stops in Boston and Memphis, with plans for seven more cities, including weeklong engagements in Los Angeles and New York City, starting January 31.
Dones expressed his excitement about the partnership with Freestyle Digital Media, saying, “We made this movie for fans of campy sci-fi comedies, and it’s been fantastic showing it at festivals and theaters nationwide. Now, we’re thrilled to bring it directly to people’s homes!” He also thanked the cast and crew for their hard work and support during the film’s journey.
In addition to directing, Dones co-wrote the screenplay with Phillip Cordell. Producers include Charles Royce, Nate Eggert, and Cordell, who also plays the many Clone Cops in the film. The cast features Ravi Patel, Quinnlan Ashe, Steve Byrne, Ted Welch, Allison Shrum, Laura Holloway, Schyler Tillet, Dean Shortland, Henry Haggard, Rashad Rayford, Justin Tarrents, and Victoria Keum Jee.
The acquisition was negotiated by Freestyle Digital Media, a division of Allen Media Group, in collaboration with Glen Reynolds and Circus Road Films.
