In a noteworthy turn of events, the much-anticipated film showdown between “Gadar 2” and “OMG 2” has unveiled a clear distinction in their opening day advance bookings. “Gadar 2,” the commercial spectacle headlined by Sunny Deol and Ameesha Patel, has emerged as the frontrunner, outshining the satirical comedy drama “OMG 2,” starring Akshay Kumar. The initial booking figures, reported on Sunday morning, illustrate “Gadar 2” securing a substantial lead by selling an impressive tally of approximately 45,000 tickets across three prominent national multiplex chains—PVR, Inox, and Cinepolis—solely on the opening day.
In contrast, “OMG 2” managed to secure a comparatively modest count of 7,700 tickets for its debut day across the same trio of national cinema chains. As the opening days progress, “Gadar 2” appears to be inching closer to a milestone of 50,000 tickets sold across the PVR, Inox, and Cinepolis platforms. Conversely, “OMG 2” has a substantial gap to bridge before achieving a similar feat. According to entertainment portal Bollywood Hungama, the directorial offering from Amit Rai, “Gadar 2,” is anticipated to achieve ticket sales ranging between 50,000 to 60,000 across these three multiplex chains by the conclusion of Thursday evening.
Anticipations for the forthcoming Sunny Deol and Ameesha Patel starrer, “Gadar 2,” suggest that its advance bookings are poised to culminate by Thursday, amassing a staggering total of over 200,000 ticket sales. This robust response in advance bookings could potentially catapult “Gadar 2” into a commendable opening weekend earning estimated at approximately Rs 20 crore.
As for “OMG 2,” the narrative revolves around Kanti Sharan Mudgal, a devoted follower of Lord Shiva, who undertakes a legal crusade against those responsible for his son’s alleged misdeeds and subsequent expulsion from school. This film, helmed by director Amit Rai, features an ensemble cast including Akshay Kumar, Arun Govil, Pankaj Tripathi, Yami Gautam, and Pavan Malhotra, each in pivotal roles.
In contrast, “Gadar 2” delves into the journey of Tara Singh, who embarks on a mission to Pakistan to retrieve his son Charanjeet ‘Jeete’ Singh.
