Renowned television personality Angela Scanlon has been unveiled as the latest addition to the prestigious lineup of this year’s Strictly Come Dancing. The announcement comes as Angela joins a roster of notable figures including Eddie Kadi, Amanda Abbington, Krishnan Guru-Murthy, Angela Rippon, and Layton Williams in the eagerly anticipated 2023 edition of the popular dance competition.
The revelation of Angela’s participation in the upcoming season was made during the Zoe Ball Breakfast Show on Radio 2, which was being hosted by Gaby Roslin. Demonstrating her characteristic wit, Angela, 39, humorously remarked on her tendency to share secrets, stating, “I’ve only told 1,700 of my closest friends.”
She proceeded to express a mixture of apprehension and excitement about her upcoming stint on the show. Angela candidly shared, “I’m terrified, I’m excited and I have so many questions. Will they make me tan? How itchy are sequins?! Do they do flesh-coloured sports bras? Well – there’s only one way to find out, right?”
When asked about her preferred professional dancer partner, the accomplished TV presenter and host of a chat show in Ireland, conveyed her admiration for the entire ensemble of dancers. She commented, “You know what, I think they’re all unbelievable. I think generally the producers get it right. I’m 5ft 6in – it might narrow down the choices. I’ll take whatever I get at this stage.”
Angela’s introduction to the Strictly lineup garnered a positive reception from the show’s dedicated fans. A supporter enthused, “My favourite so far. So pleased she is on it. She will be great and so entertaining.”
Based in London, Angela has been married to Roy Horgan since 2014, and the couple is blessed with two daughters. As anticipation mounts for the forthcoming season of Strictly Come Dancing, Angela Scanlon’s inclusion adds an exciting dimension to the diverse array of talent set to grace the dance floor.
