Rajinikanth, the legendary actor, is poised to set the box office ablaze once again with his latest cinematic offering, “Jailer.” Initial reports reveal that the film has garnered a substantial collection of over ₹19 crore from advance bookings.
With “Jailer,” Rajinikanth is anticipated to deliver one of his most significant hits to date. The film has reportedly amassed a remarkable ₹19 crore through advance bookings, with its release date set for August 10.
According to details shared on Sacnilk.com, the movie has secured ₹12.8 crore in India through advance bookings. The Tamil version alone contributed around ₹11.7 crore, while the Telugu version added ₹1.1 crore to the total. In the United States, as confirmed by trade analyst Manobala Vijayan, “Jailer” has successfully sold 37,000 tickets, generating $802,628 (approximately ₹6.64 crore). Projections indicate that it’s poised to cross the $1 million mark in advance ticket sales.
The distribution rights for “Jailer” were reportedly sold for ₹123 crore. Of this amount, ₹60 crore came from Tamil Nadu, with Karnataka contributing ₹10 crore, Andhra Pradesh and Telangana contributing ₹12 crore, and Kerala adding ₹5.5 crore. The remainder of India secured an additional ₹4 crore.
According to discussions circulating on social media, Rajinikanth’s remuneration for this film stands at ₹110 crore. Additionally, it’s noted that prominent actor Mohanlal, who plays a significant role in the movie, is compensated with ₹8 crore.
The film also stars Kannada actor Shivraj Kumar in a pivotal role. Reports suggest that the makers remunerated him with ₹4 crore. Jackie Shroff received ₹4 crore, Tamannaah Bhatia received ₹3 crore, Yogi Babu secured ₹1 crore, Ramya Krishnan earned ₹80 lakh, and Vasant Ravi was paid ₹30 lakh.
The excitement surrounding “Jailer” is so palpable that numerous offices and schools in the southern states have declared August 10, the film’s release day, a holiday. Companies have cited reasons ranging from accommodating leave requests to actively supporting anti-piracy efforts. One company notice stated, “We also take the privilege of going the extra mile to support anti-piracy by providing free tickets to employees…”
This movie heralds Rajinikanth’s return to the silver screen after a two-year hiatus. In “Jailer,” he takes on the role of a retired police officer. The film also marks his maiden collaboration with director Nelson Dilipkumar.
The official trailer for “Jailer,” titled “Jailer Showcase,” was unveiled earlier this month. The trailer offers glimpses of riveting scenes, including a tense phone call between Rajinikanth and Jackie Shroff. Apart from Rajinikanth and Shroff, the cast also features Priyanka Mohan, Shiva Rajkumar, Tamannaah Bhatia, Ramya Krishnan, Yogi Babu, Vasanth Ravi, and Vinayakan.
