Blake Lively’s upcoming film, Another Simple Favor, is set to premiere as the opening night feature at the South by Southwest (SXSW) Film and TV Festival in Austin, Texas, on March 7, 2025. This sequel to the 2018 hit A Simple Favor reunites Lively with co-star Anna Kendrick and director Paul Feig, known for his work on Bridesmaids.
The film follows the characters Stephanie Smothers (Kendrick) and Emily Nelson (Lively) as they travel to the picturesque island of Capri, Italy, for Emily’s lavish wedding to a wealthy Italian businessman. The cast also includes notable actors such as Andrew Rannells, Elizabeth Perkins, Henry Golding, and Allison Janney.
This announcement comes amid Lively’s ongoing legal issues related to her previous film, It Ends With Us, which is based on Colleen Hoover’s popular novel. In December, Lively filed a complaint against co-star and director Justin Baldoni, alleging sexual harassment and retaliation. Baldoni has denied these allegations and has countersued Lively and her husband, actor Ryan Reynolds, claiming civil extortion, defamation, and invasion of privacy. A preliminary hearing was held recently, with a trial scheduled for spring 2026.
After its premiere at SXSW, Another Simple Favor will be available for streaming on Prime Video starting May 1, 2025. Feig expressed his excitement about returning to SXSW, stating that he felt honored to have his film open the festival.
