Omari Hardwick and Dana Gourrier have been cast as series regulars in Amazon Prime Video’s upcoming series, The Greatest, about the life of Muhammad Ali. They will star alongside Jaalen Best, who will play the boxing legend.
Hardwick will portray Cassius “Cash” Clay Sr., Ali’s father, while Gourrier will play Odessa “Bird” Clay, his mother.
The Greatest will explore Muhammad Ali’s life, both his well-known victories and defeats in and out of the boxing ring. The series aims to highlight the moments away from the spotlight, showcasing Ali as a man, husband, father, brother, and son.
Hardwick is known for his role in the Starz series Power. His other credits include Pieces of Her, The Mother, Fantasy Football, and Army of the Dead. Gourrier has appeared in shows such as Interview with the Vampire, P-Valley, Evil, and Found, as well as films like The Butler, The Hateful Eight, Django Unchained, and The United States vs. Billie Holiday.
Ben Watkins will serve as executive producer and showrunner for The Greatest. Michael B. Jordan will also executive produce through his Outlier Society, with Elizabeth Raposo, Corey Salter, Marc Rosen, Matthew Gross, Lonnie Ali, Michele Anthony, Boyd Muir, David Blackman, and Josh Wakely also serving as executive producers.
