Minnesota Timberwolves star Anthony Edwards is launching a new sports docuseries titled Year Five, which will premiere next week on his YouTube channel. Edwards, who has recently attracted attention for sharing his views on the L.A. Lakers’ trade for Luka Dončić (sending Anthony Davis to the Dallas Mavericks), is now bringing fans an exclusive look at his life on and off the court.
Year Five is a joint effort between Edwards’ Three Fifths Media and Brent Montgomery’s Wheelhouse, following the two companies’ partnership formed in October. The series will be produced under Wheelhouse Sports, a newly created division within the company, along with Portal A, a content production company known for its work with athletes like Stephen Curry, Carmelo Anthony, and Odell Beckham Jr.
The docuseries will consist of five episodes, each ranging from 15 to 20 minutes, focusing on Edwards’ journey throughout his current NBA season with the Timberwolves. The episodes will span from the NBA All-Star Weekend to the NBA Playoffs. Year Five promises an inside look at Edwards’ life, offering a close-up view of the highs, lows, and everything in between. New episodes will be released in real time, typically just days after filming. The series will feature exclusive interviews with Edwards and provide insights from his teammates, coaches, and those closest to him.
The first episode will be available Tuesday, February 11, on Edwards’ YouTube channel, with additional content shared on his Instagram and TikTok. Episode 1 will cover Edwards’ experience after the departure of his former teammate, center Karl-Anthony Towns.
“I’m excited for everyone to see what we’ve been working on,” Edwards said. “The only way you could feel closer to the action is if you were actually playing.”
Executive producers for the series include Brent Montgomery, Stan Kaufman, Justin Holland, and Nate Houghteling. Co-founder of Portal A, Houghteling, and Tre McCain will serve as co-directors.
“Anthony Edwards is one of the most captivating athletes in all of sports,” Houghteling said. “What makes him stand out is his authenticity. With Year Five, our goal was to let Ant be himself and provide a direct connection with his fans.”
Stan Kaufman, Vice President of Wheelhouse Sports, added: “Anthony Edwards is the future of sports storytelling—bold, authentic, and fully in control of his own narrative. Year Five marks the beginning of a new chapter with Wheelhouse Sports. This series isn’t just about basketball—it’s about bringing fans along on Ant’s journey in real time.”
Justin Holland, founder and head of Three Fifths Media, and Edwards’ business manager, explained: “This docuseries will give fans the chance to walk in Anthony’s shoes and experience his NBA season like never before—exciting and fresh.”
