Madelyn Cline, best known for her role in Outer Banks, is set to star alongside Johnny Depp and Penélope Cruz in the upcoming action thriller Day Drinker, produced by Lionsgate.
Directed by Marc Webb, known for The Amazing Spider-Man and Disney’s live-action Snow White, Day Drinker follows the story of a cruise ship bartender who becomes entangled with a mysterious day drinker.
The two are unexpectedly drawn into a criminal underworld, their lives intertwined in ways neither could foresee.
Cline, who gained fame for her breakout role in Outer Banks, will reprise her character in the series’ upcoming fifth and final season. She is also slated to appear in Sony’s I Know What You Did Last Summer sequel and Amazon MGM’s The Map That Leads to You. Cline is represented by CAA, Entertainment 360, Bold Talent Agency, imPRint, and Hirsch Wallerstein Hayum Matlof and Fishman.
The film will be produced by Basil Iwanyk and Erica Lee of Thunder Road, who are behind the John Wick franchise. Other producers include Adam Kolbrenner, known for The Tomorrow War and Free Guy, and Zach Dean, who wrote the original screenplay for Day Drinker and has worked on Fast X and The Tomorrow War. Kolbrenner and Dean’s latest project, The Gorge, will debut next week on Apple TV+ and Skydance.
Johnny Depp’s production company, In.2, will also produce the film, marking Depp’s return to Hollywood after his highly publicized legal battles with ex-wife Amber Heard.
The film’s executive producers include 30West, with Chelsea Kujawa overseeing the project for Lionsgate. Dan Freedman negotiated the deals on behalf of the studio.
