Lady Gaga took the stage in New Orleans for a special Super Bowl performance, following her Grammy win, to deliver an emotional rendition of “Hold My Hand.” The performance took place on Bourbon Street, serving as a heartfelt tribute to the victims of the tragic New Year’s Day attack that claimed 14 lives.
Gaga, who played the piano during her set, was accompanied by a full band and a choir. The performance was attended by Louisiana State Police troopers, New Orleans police officers, first responders, and law enforcement, all given a front-row view. Notable figures like former New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady and television host Michael Strahan also participated in the tribute. This performance was featured as part of the broadcast’s introduction.
“Hold My Hand,” which gained widespread recognition as part of the emotional closing sequence in Top Gun: Maverick (2022), was nominated for both a Grammy and a Golden Globe.
Earlier in the week, Caballero Casting had put out a call for background extras to join the segment. A post on Facebook announced, “FOX will be producing a piece on Bourbon Street, paying tribute to the tragic events that occurred there on New Year’s morning. We are seeking people to help make this moment memorable.”
The Super Bowl performance came shortly after Gaga released her latest single, “Abracadabra,” and performed “California Dreamin’” with Bruno Mars at the Grammy Awards.
Before this, she premiered a new song, “All I Need Is Time,” at the FireAid event in Los Angeles. Gaga revealed that she co-wrote the song with her fiancé, Michael Polansky, and described it as an upbeat track made especially for the event.
Looking ahead, Gaga is preparing to release her seventh studio album, Mayhem. She has already released two singles from the upcoming 14-track album: “Disease,” in December, and “Die With a Smile,” featuring Bruno Mars, in August.
In a recent press statement, Gaga shared her thoughts on the album, explaining, “It started with me confronting my fear of returning to the pop music my earliest fans loved.” She added, “The album represents reassembling a shattered mirror — even if you can’t put the pieces back perfectly, you can create something beautiful and whole in its own new way.”
