Selena Gomez and Benny Blanco are preparing to release their first joint album, I Said I Love You First, set for launch on March 21 through SMG Music, Friend Keep Secrets, and Interscope Records.
In celebration of Valentine’s Day, the engaged couple has unveiled the album’s debut single, “Scared of Loving You.” The song, co-written by Gomez, Blanco, and Finneas, features a heartfelt chorus sung by Gomez: “‘Cause I’m not scared of loving you / I’m just scared of losing you / I’m not scared of anyone or dying young / Or if you’re gonna find somebody new / ‘Cause how could they love you / As much as I do? As much as I do.” With its upbeat guitar melody, the track is accompanied by a music video showing Gomez and Blanco sharing a quiet morning together in bed.
The album is described as a celebration of the couple’s love story, offering fans an intimate look into their relationship. According to a press release, the project reflects the comfort the duo felt while working together creatively, enabling them to craft art that truly represents their shared experiences. The album captures their journey, from their individual lives before they met, through falling in love, and into their hopes for the future.
In recent months, Gomez has taken a break from her music career to focus on promoting her role in the musical Emilia Perez, directed by Jacques Audiard. Alongside her music, Gomez has earned significant recognition for her acting, with multiple Emmy, SAG, and Golden Globe nominations. She also recently received her first BAFTA nomination for her portrayal of Jessi Del Monte in Emilia Perez.
