Netflix has set the premiere date for its first English-language medical procedural, Pulse. The series will launch on April 3, and the streaming giant has released the first images from the show.
Pulse, which was officially ordered to series in February 2024, stars Willa Fitzgerald, Colin Woodell, Justina Machado, Jack Bannon, Jessie T. Usher, Jessy Yates, Chelsea Muirhead, Daniela Nieves, along with Néstor Carbonell, Jessica Rothe, Santiago Segura, Ash Santos, and Arturo Del Puerto.
The series follows Dr. Danny Simms (Fitzgerald), a third-year resident at a Miami hospital’s Level 1 Trauma Center, as she steps into a leadership role when Chief Resident Dr. Xander Phillips (Woodell) is suspended just as a hurricane threatens the city. As the storm intensifies, the hospital is placed on lockdown. Danny and Xander are forced to work together, even as their secret, complicated romance is exposed, affecting both their professional duties and personal lives. The rest of the ER team must manage their own struggles while dealing with the fallout from the relationship and the high-pressure environment of life-or-death decisions.
Zoe Robyn created Pulse and serves as co-showrunner and executive producer alongside Carlton Cuse. Bradley Gardner, Emma Forman, Michael Klick, and Kate Dennis are also executive producers.
The release of Pulse follows the success of Max’s medical procedural The Pitt, starring Noah Wyle, which was recently renewed for a second season. This move also aligns with the growing trend among streaming platforms to lower series production costs, with procedurals generally being less expensive to produce compared to the high-budget prestige dramas that have dominated the industry in recent years.
