Benson Boone’s hit single “Beautiful Things” has been named the top-selling single in the world for 2024 by the International Federation of the Phonographic Industry (IFPI). This announcement was made on February 20, 2025. Boone’s achievement is notable as it marks his first appearance in the IFPI Global Chart Top 10.
The IFPI Global Single Award honors the artist with the best-selling single across all digital formats, including paid streaming, ad-supported platforms, and single-track downloads. Released in January 2024, “Beautiful Things” has received multiple accolades, including wins at the Billboard Music Awards and MTV Video Music Awards. Boone also won Best New Artist at the MTV Europe Music Awards and performed at the 2025 Grammy Awards.
Sabrina Carpenter’s “Espresso” secured the second spot on the Global Singles Chart, while Teddy Swims’ “Lose Control” came in third. The chart reflects a strong year for emerging artists, with nine of the top ten tracks featuring U.S. artists. The only exception was Hozier from Ireland with “Too Sweet,” which ranked sixth.
Victoria Oakley, CEO of IFPI, praised Boone’s success, stating, “We are delighted to present the IFPI Global Single Award to Benson Boone. This is an amazing achievement to produce a truly worldwide hit.” She also highlighted the success of other newcomers in the industry.
The IFPI Global Singles Chart considers total consumption of tracks, including remixes and alternative versions, and accounts for both free and paid streaming. For 2024, enhancements to the methodology were made to better reflect subscription stream economics across regions.
The complete top ten of the IFPI Global Singles Chart for 2024 is as follows:
