Clayton Davis, Variety’s newly promoted Chief Awards Editor, will once again join ABC’s Oscar pre-show, “Countdown to the Academy Awards: On the Red Carpet Live,” marking his fourth consecutive year on the program. The pre-show will air on March 2 from 12:30 p.m. to 5 p.m. PT, leading up to the live telecast of the 97th Academy Awards.
Davis will provide insights into the unpredictable Oscar race and share his signature predictions. He will be stationed on the red carpet outside the Dolby Theatre alongside notable ABC personalities, including Linsey Davis, Whit Johnson, Chris Connelly, and George Pennacchio.
Since 2020, Davis has been a leading figure in Variety’s film awards coverage, expanding his scope to include television and other entertainment sectors. His recent promotion from Senior Awards Editor to Chief Awards Editor reflects his significant contributions to the industry. Variety co-editors in chief Cynthia Littleton and Ramin Setoodeh praised Davis for his energy and passion, noting that he has redefined and expanded the scope of their awards coverage.
Davis is renowned for his comprehensive predictions and analysis during award season. He writes Variety’s “Awards Circuit” column and hosts the “Awards Circuit” podcast. His presence is also prominent at film festivals and industry events as a speaker and moderator.
