Scott Foley has been cast as a modern-day minister named Malcolm in Amazon Prime Video’s new faith-based drama, “It’s Not Like That”. This series, developed by Wonder Project, received a cast contingent series order from Prime Video in November, and Foley’s casting lifts this contingency.
The show follows Lori, a recently divorced mother of two teenagers, and Malcolm, a widowed minister with three children. Their families were once very close, but now they face the challenges of single parenthood and the complexities of Malcolm’s role as a contemporary minister. The series hints at a potential romantic storyline, but its title suggests that things might not be as straightforward as they seem.
Ian Deitchman and Kristin Robinson, known for their work on Amazon shows like “As We See It” and “Carnival Row”, are the creators and showrunners of the series. They will executive produce alongside Scott Foley, Jon Erwin, Justin Rosenblatt, Kelly Merryman Hoogstraten, Alex Goldstone, and others. The series is produced by Wonder Project and Amazon MGM Studios, with Justin Rosenblatt overseeing the project.
Scott Foley is currently appearing in Netflix’s “La Dolce Villa” and has a recurring role as Dr. Seth McDale on ABC’s “Will Trent”. He is also set to return to the “Scream” franchise in its upcoming seventh installment.
Foley is represented by Independent Artist Group, Atlas Artists, and Sloane, Offer, Weber & Dern.
Deitchman and Robinson have a diverse portfolio, including credits for NBC’s “Parenthood” and the feature film “Life as We Know It”. They are also working on “Off Campus”, another series ordered by Amazon Prime Video in October.
