NBC’s new spinoff of the hit series “Suits”, titled “Suits LA”, has debuted with a modest 2.6 million viewers on Sunday night. This marks a slow start for the show, which ranked third among four new drama series premiering on the network this season. “Brilliant Minds” led with 3.9 million viewers, followed by “The Hunting Party” with 3.1 million, while “Grosse Pointe Garden Society” trailed behind with 1.8 million viewers.
“Suits LA” struggled to retain viewers from the preceding timeslot, managing to hold onto only 50% of the audience that watched the Tom Hanks-narrated documentary “The Americas”, which averaged 5.2 million viewers. In the same timeslot, CBS’s “Watson” drew 4.7 million viewers, outperforming “Suits LA”.
The original “Suits” series experienced a resurgence in popularity after being added to Netflix in the summer of 2023, becoming the most-streamed series of that year with 57.7 billion minutes watched.
However, “Suits LA” is currently available only on Peacock, which may limit its exposure compared to the original series.
“Suits LA” stars Stephen Amell as Ted Black, a former federal prosecutor turned entertainment lawyer, alongside Lex Scott Davis, Josh McDermitt, and Bryan Greenberg. The show was created by Aaron Korsh, who also serves as an executive producer. Despite the slow start, the show’s future could depend on how it performs in upcoming weeks and its streaming performance on Peacock.
