Adam Sandler made a memorable appearance at the 2025 Oscars, crashing Conan O’Brien’s opening monologue with his signature casual style. The actor, known for his laid-back fashion sense, wore a bright blue hoodie and dark blue basketball shorts, which caught the host’s attention.
During the monologue, O’Brien humorously questioned Sandler’s attire, asking, “Adam, what are you wearing?” He added, “You look like someone playing video poker at 2 a.m.” Sandler responded with a smile, saying, “Nobody even thought about what I was wearing until you brought it up. I like how I look because I’m a good person. I don’t care about what I wear or don’t wear.”
Despite O’Brien’s apology for the jest, Sandler decided to leave the ceremony, inviting the audience to join him for a game of five-on-five basketball at Veteran Park later that night. He humorously mentioned that “the guy from [Nosferatu]” would be on his team, though he struggled to pronounce the title correctly.
Before exiting, Sandler approached Best Actor nominee Timothée Chalamet, shouting “Chalamet!” in his ear and giving him a big hug, drawing laughter from the crowd. This moment was part of a running joke, as Sandler had previously referenced Chalamet at the Golden Globes and during Chalamet’s appearance on Saturday Night Live.
O’Brien’s monologue also touched on other notable moments, including a humorous clip referencing the body horror film “The Substance” and addressing controversy surrounding “Emilia Pérez” star Karla Sofía Gascón’s social media posts. Despite the lighthearted moments, Sandler’s unexpected exit left the audience in stitches and eager for more of his signature humor.
