The popular comedy show Kill Tony is making its way to Netflix. The streaming service has announced that it will release three exclusive specials from Tony Hinchcliffe’s live comedy show, with the first one set to premiere on April 7.
The specials will showcase a mix of well-known comedians and up-and-coming talent. During the shows, Hinchcliffe and his panel will offer brutally honest feedback, while surprise celebrity guests will also make appearances.
Along with the Kill Tony specials, Hinchcliffe will also perform a one-hour stand-up comedy special for Netflix. The exact release dates and lineups for the specials will be announced later.
Hinchcliffe expressed his excitement about the deal, saying, “Myself and our entire crew of Austin comedians, peers, and upcomers are excited for the opportunity to share our chaotic, insane show with a whole new audience. It all started in a room at The Comedy Store with 12 audience members in 2013. Now, after world tours and over 700 Monday releases on YouTube, it’s incredible to think that we’ll be performing on the largest streaming service in the world.”
He added, “It’s the most spontaneous and improvised show out there, and the creative freedom Netflix has given us to keep the show true to its original form is a comedian’s dream. We can’t wait to Netflix and Kill.”
In addition to his work on Kill Tony, Hinchcliffe is also known for his appearance on Netflix’s The Roast of Tom Brady and for a controversial joke made at Donald Trump’s Madison Square Garden rally. His joke about Puerto Rico sparked backlash and drew support for Kamala Harris from Puerto Rican celebrities like Bad Bunny and Jennifer Lopez. Despite the controversy, Hinchcliffe did not apologize but acknowledged that a political rally may not have been the ideal setting for comedy.
