Billy Joel has postponed eight upcoming concerts scheduled between now and July due to an undisclosed medical condition. The singer explained that his health must come first and that he is focusing on recovery after undergoing surgery.
A statement about the situation said that Joel is expected to make a full recovery and will begin doctor-supervised physical therapy during his recovery.
“While I regret postponing any shows, my health must come first,” Joel said in a statement released on Tuesday. “I look forward to getting back on stage and sharing the joy of live music with our amazing fans.
Thank you for your understanding.”
With the concerts now rescheduled, most will take place in 2026. The next performance on Joel’s tour will be at Acrisure Stadium in Pittsburgh on July 5.
Joel’s last concert was on February 22 at Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, CT, where he took a fall during the encore. He quickly recovered and finished the show, though some fans were concerned about his well-being. It is not clear if the recent surgery is connected to the fall.
The concert scheduled for this Saturday in Toronto will now take place on March 14, 2026. The concert in Detroit at Ford Field on March 29 has been rescheduled for November 15, 2025. A show in Syracuse originally scheduled for April 11 has been moved to April 10, 2026.
Other rescheduled dates include a Charlotte concert, now set for July 3, 2026, and a Salt Lake City show, which will now occur on May 22, 2026. The Edinburgh concert originally planned for June 7 will now take place on June 6, 2026, and a Liverpool performance scheduled for June 21 has been moved to June 20, 2025.
The Milwaukee concert on April 26 is still waiting for a new date to be announced.
Tickets for the rescheduled shows will remain valid for the new dates. After resuming his tour on July 5, Joel is expected to continue with other shows planned for the year, including performances at Yankee Stadium on July 18, MetLife Stadium in New Jersey on August 8, and Citi Field in Queens on August 21. The tour will also make stops in Washington, D.C., Cincinnati, Santa Clara, New Orleans, and Hollywood, Florida later in the year.
