Sadie Sink, known for her role in Stranger Things, is set to join the Marvel Cinematic Universe in Spider-Man 4. The actress will star alongside Tom Holland, reprising his role as the iconic web-slinging hero.
Details about Sink’s character remain unclear, though Deadline, which first reported the casting news, suggests that her role will be “significant.” The outlet speculates that Sink could play Jean Grey, a mutant from the X-Men universe who has previously been portrayed by Famke Janssen and Sophie Turner in past films.
Marvel Studios and Sony Pictures, the companies behind the Spider-Man films in the MCU, have yet to comment on the casting.
Plot details for Spider-Man 4 have not been revealed. However, the third film, Spider-Man: No Way Home (2021), saw Peter Parker inadvertently breaking open the multiverse. This allowed previous versions of Spider-Man, played by Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield, to enter the same reality, leading to major consequences. The movie ended with Holland’s Peter Parker erasing his identity, leaving his girlfriend MJ (Zendaya) and best friend Ned (Jacob Batalon) to forget him. No Way Home was a massive success, grossing $1.9 billion globally, so most fans are likely familiar with the story.
Destin Daniel Cretton, director of Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, will direct the upcoming film, taking over from Jon Watts, who directed the first three films. Spider-Man 4 is scheduled for release on July 31, 2026.
Sadie Sink, 22, gained fame for her role in Stranger Things, which recently completed filming its fifth and final season. She also starred in Taylor Swift’s music video for All Too Well: The Short Film, alongside Dylan O’Brien. Sink’s upcoming projects include the musical O’Dessa, which premiered at SXSW, and her Broadway debut in John Proctor Is the Villain this April.
