FX has announced a new drama pilot titled Seven Sisters, starring Elizabeth Olsen, who will reunite with director Sean Durkin. This marks the second collaboration between the two, following their successful work on Martha Marcy May Marlene.
The series, produced by FX Productions, will follow Olsen’s character, a sister who starts hearing a mysterious voice. As the story unfolds, her large family, possibly consisting of seven sisters along with additional members, will begin to unravel due to long-hidden secrets.
In addition to Olsen and Durkin, Will Arbery has been tapped to write the pilot. Arbery, Durkin, and Garrett Basch will serve as executive producers. Basch, known for his work with FX, has produced several successful series, including Devs, Reservation Dogs, and What We Do in the Shadows. He is also working on an upcoming noir series starring Ethan Hawke.
This new project reunites Olsen and Durkin nearly 15 years after the release of Martha Marcy May Marlene. That film, Durkin’s feature directorial debut, was met with critical acclaim and marked Olsen’s first significant film role outside of her child actor work in family films alongside her twin sisters, Mary-Kate and Ashley. The film earned strong reviews and garnered four nominations at the Independent Spirit Awards, including Best First Feature and Best Female Lead for Olsen. Durkin also won a directing award at Sundance for the film.
Seven Sisters promises to be an exciting new chapter for Olsen and Durkin’s creative partnership.
