The highly anticipated trailer for F1, an action-packed film starring Brad Pitt, has been released just ahead of the Australian Grand Prix. The movie, produced by Apple Original Films and the creators of Top Gun: Maverick, is directed by Joseph Kosinski. F1 legend Lewis Hamilton is also serving as a producer.
Formula 1, launched in 1950, is renowned as the world’s most prestigious motor racing competition and one of the most popular annual sporting events.
The F1 movie features Pitt as Sonny Hayes, a former Formula 1 driver whose promising career was cut short by a devastating accident in the 1990s. Now, 30 years later, Sonny is a race-for-hire. His life takes a new turn when Ruben Cervantes (played by Javier Bardem), his former teammate turned struggling F1 team owner, convinces him to return to the sport for one last chance at greatness. The film follows Sonny as he teams up with rookie racer Joshua Pearce (Damson Idris) in an intense battle for success. As the story unfolds, Sonny faces fierce competition on the track, with the film exploring how in F1, a teammate can be just as much of a rival, and the road to redemption is never traveled alone.
The film also stars Kerry Condon, Tobias Menzies, and Kim Bodnia. To bring authenticity to the racing scenes, the movie was filmed during actual Grand Prix weekends, capturing the thrill and intensity of the sport. The screenplay was written by Ehren Kruger, with Daniel Lupi serving as executive producer. Kosinski worked closely with his creative team, including director of photography Claudio Miranda, production designers Mark Tildesley and Ben Munro, editor Stephen Mirrione, costume designer Julian Day, casting director Lucy Bevan, and composer Hans Zimmer.
The F1 film is set to be an adrenaline-fueled tribute to the world of Formula 1, set against the backdrop of high-speed racing and fierce competition.
