The 2025 Hong Kong – Asia Film Financing Forum (HAF) Awards saw a balanced distribution of honors, with several film projects taking home multiple prizes.
Liu Xing’s Mainland China-Hong Kong drama-romance Say My Name stood out by winning three awards. Other winners included Gong Yiwen’s Mainland China drama Her First Taste, Zheng Lu Xinyuan’s Hong Kong-Mainland China drama A Stranger at My Door, and Hee Young Pyun and Jiajun ‘Oscar’ Zhang’s South Korea-U.S. drama-suspense Seoulers, each of which took home two prizes.
The event began with the announcement of a new Asian Short Film Fund.
Dr. Wilfred Wong, Chair of the Hong Kong Film Development Council, opened the market by highlighting the event’s impressive turnout. “This year’s 2025 HKIFF industry project market is a special edition, focusing on teamwork and new ideas. Over the past three days, we’ve facilitated over 1,200 meetings connecting creators and professionals from all genres, including action, science fiction, and animation. We received 400 submissions from 45 countries and regions, and we are proud to have selected 48 projects that showcase bold creativity,” Wong said.
“We’re also thrilled to introduce a new animation section in response to growing interest in the field,” he continued. “Additionally, we are excited to showcase two Indonesian films in partnership with Jakarta Film Week, further demonstrating the rising influence of Indonesian cinema.”
