Selena Gomez made a surprise appearance at an Imax screening of Spring Breakers in New York, joining Benny Blanco to greet excited fans at AMC Lincoln Square. The screening, showcasing A24’s wild 2013 crime comedy, featured Gomez’s bikini-clad character in one of her most notable roles.
Fans screamed in excitement as Gomez and Blanco entered the theater, with one fan exclaiming, “I need to call everybody I know.” Gomez greeted the crowd, saying, “Did you guys enjoy one of my favorite movies ever?”
She then took a selfie with the audience, promising to send it to Spring Breakers director Harmony Korine and her co-stars Vanessa Hudgens, Ashley Benson, and Rachel Korine.
During their brief visit, Gomez and Blanco previewed their new track “Bluest Flame” from their upcoming album I Said I Love You First, handing out USB drives containing the unreleased song. Blanco joked, “The label is probably gonna shoot us, but thanks guys,” as they left the theater.
Gomez starred in Spring Breakers as a college student caught up in a crime spree, a film that marked a bold departure from her Disney image. At 20, Gomez was ready to take on more mature roles, a decision she discussed in a 2024 interview with Variety. Despite the film’s controversial nature, she expressed pride in her role, saying it was a crucial step in her career.
