Letterkenny is gearing up to embrace a weekend of captivating entertainment, music, and jubilation as it prepares to host the much-anticipated Letterkenny Festival 2023.
Spanning the entire weekend, the Letterkenny Festival has curated a diverse array of attractions catering to music enthusiasts of all ages and genres.
This year’s edition of the festival coincides with the inaugural Letterkenny Pride Festival, thereby spotlighting the town’s steadfast dedication to embracing diversity, fostering inclusivity, and championing self-expression.
The festivities commence on Friday, August 18, at McGettigan’s Hotel on Main Street, with the opening of the Gig-Rig entertainment spectacle at 7.30pm.
Attendees will be treated to a nostalgic journey courtesy of the sensational ensemble, My Generation, followed by a performance from the beloved Bagatelle & Friends.
On Saturday, August 19, the musical extravaganza continues at the Donegal County Library on Lower Main Street, initiating at 6.30pm.
The evening promises an impressive lineup of musical virtuosos, embellished by a special guest appearance by Mundy.
Sunday, August 20, ushers in a surge of excitement and exhilaration with the Soap Box Derby set to launch on the Port Road at 2pm from the Golden Grill car park.
As the day transitions into evening, the Gig-Rig relocates to Sister Sara’s for “Country Sunday,” starting at 5pm. The stage will witness captivating performances by Hard to Beat, The Wild Rovers, Mickey Joe Harte, Limelite, Kathy Durkin, Hugo Duncan, and Sinead Black.
To ensure a memorable experience for families, the Letterkenny Community Development Project’s “Stay & Play Program” will host a medley of activities, including face painting, artistic creations, a photo booth, a games corner, a toddler’s corner, and appearances by cherished cartoon characters, on both Saturday and Sunday.
The advent of Letterkenny’s maiden Pride Festival, scheduled for August 19, introduces an added layer of jubilation and significance to the festival.
Beyond the Pride parade, a spectrum of events will unfold throughout the town, encompassing a screening of ‘Pride’ at Century Cinema and a Pride After Party at The Brewery Bar.
