Taylor Swift returned to Instagram on Saturday after a 100-day break to support Selena Gomez’s new album, I Said I Love You First, a collaboration with Gomez’s fiancé Benny Blanco.
“[Selena Gomez] & [Benny Blanco] I LOVE THIS ALBUM SO MUCH OH MY GODDDDDDDDDDDD,” Swift wrote on her Instagram Stories, sharing a link to the album.
The 14-track record marks Gomez’s first major release since her 2020 album Rare. Fans of Gomez were thrilled by Swift’s endorsement, but some expressed frustration with other artists who have not shown support, despite Gomez’s past efforts to back them. One fan account on X had posted, “No celebrity supporting Selena Gomez’s new album except Becky G. Not Even Taylor Swift,” but the post was later deleted.
In addition, some fans are disappointed with Gomez’s label, Interscope Records, claiming the album has not been adequately promoted since its March 21 release. One fan wrote on X, “Interscope Records must really love losing money by not promoting one of their biggest artists.”
Ahead of the album’s release, Spotify shared a 33-minute interview between Blanco and Gomez, where they discussed the creative process behind the album. “We’d get up in the morning and have a conversation. But our conversation was never led going, ‘What are we going to write in the album?’” Gomez explained.
Blanco added, “Sometimes, you’d be saying something really important, and I didn’t know if you even realized, but I would always open my phone and be like, ‘Fuck, that’s such a good line for a song.’”
