Billy Joel: And So It Goes, an HBO original two-part documentary, will open the 2025 Tribeca Festival. The announcement was made by Tribeca CEO Jane Rosenthal at the NAB Show’s Business of Entertainment event.
Rosenthal praised Joel, saying, “Billy Joel has embodied the spirit of New York. His music, which captures the essence of a ‘New York State of Mind,’ is the perfect way to kick off this year’s celebration of creativity.”
The 2025 Tribeca Festival will run from June 4-15 in New York City, featuring films, music, TV, live talks, and more. And So It Goes, set to premiere on June 4, explores Joel’s life, love, loss, and songwriting. The documentary includes rare performances, home videos, and interviews that delve into Joel’s enduring impact on music.
Co-directors Jessica Levin and Susan Lacy expressed excitement about the film’s premiere, thanking the festival and HBO for their support. After its Tribeca debut, the documentary will air on HBO and stream on Max this summer.
