Saturday Night Live didn’t let Morgan Wallen’s abrupt exit from the March 29 episode go unnoticed. The country singer, who performed two songs as the musical guest, left the stage during the typical group goodnights, later posting a photo of his private jet on Instagram with the caption, “Get me to God’s country.”
In the latest SNL episode, the show mocked Wallen’s walk-off twice. During Weekend Update, Colin Jost joked, “Money is leaving the stock market faster than Morgan Wallen at goodnights,” referring to the recent downturn in the stock market.
Earlier in the show’s cold open, James Austin Johnson, playing President Donald Trump, made a reference to Wallen’s “God’s country” post. “I even put tariffs on an island uninhabited by humans. It’s called Heard and McDonald Island. Big Mac and a hula skirt. Get me to God’s country, right?”
Wallen appeared on SNL ahead of his new album’s May release, with Anora star Mikey Madison hosting the March 29 episode. This week, Jack Black returned as host for the first time in nearly 20 years, with Elton John and Brandi Carlile as musical guests.
