Jennifer Lopez will star in Netflix’s upcoming adaptation of The Last Mrs. Parrish, a psychological thriller based on Liv Constantine’s best-selling novel. Directed by Robert Zemeckis, known for Forrest Gump and Back to the Future, the film centers on a conniving woman who targets a wealthy couple for a twisted scheme.
The story follows a con artist who befriends the wife and seduces the husband of the Parrish family with the goal of becoming the next Mrs. Parrish. However, she soon learns that the wife’s life is far more complicated than she anticipated. Additional casting details have yet to be announced.
Andrea Berloff, who directed The Mother, and John Gatins, known for Flight, are writing the screenplay. Originally, Lisa Rubin was hired to write the script when the project was announced in 2021.
Producers for the film include Liza Chasin for 3dot Productions, Molly Sims for Something Happy Productions, and Lopez, Elaine Goldsmith-Thomas, and Benny Medina for Nuyorican Productions. Executive producers include Margaret Chernin for 3dot Productions, Lynne and Valerie Constantine, and Jack Rapke and Derek Hogue.
Lopez, who recently starred in the sports drama Unstoppable, will also appear in the upcoming Kiss of the Spider Woman musical remake, directed by Bill Condon. She has previously collaborated with Netflix on The Mother and Atlas, a sci-fi thriller with Sterling K. Brown.
Zemeckis, known for his iconic films such as Romancing the Stone and Cast Away, most recently directed Here, a fantasy drama that reunited Forrest Gump stars Tom Hanks and Robin Wright.
Deadline Hollywood first reported Lopez and Zemeckis’ involvement in the film.
