Director David F. Sandberg, known for his work on Lights Out, Annabelle: Creation, and the Shazam! films, returns to his horror roots with the adaptation of the 2015 PlayStation video game Until Dawn. The film, produced by Sony Pictures through Screen Gems and PlayStation Productions, premiered in U.S. theaters on April 25, 2025.
Plot Overview
The movie introduces a new storyline set in the same universe as the original game. It follows a group of eight teenagers who venture into a remote valley one year after the mysterious disappearance of one of their sisters. Exploring an abandoned visitor center, they find themselves stalked by a masked killer and are horrifically murdered one by one—only to wake up and find themselves back at the beginning of the same evening. Trapped in the valley, they’re forced to relive the nightmare repeatedly, each time facing a different terrifying threat. They must survive until dawn to escape the cycle.
