Ryan Coogler’s horror film Sinners, starring Michael B. Jordan, continues to impress at the box office. In its second weekend, the film earned $13 million on Friday, bringing its domestic total to over $100 million. This marks the second-highest grossing second weekend for an R-rated horror film, trailing only 2017’s It. The film’s success is attributed to its unique blend of genres and strong audience reception, including a rare “A” CinemaScore.
In its opening weekend, The Accountant 2, starring Ben Affleck, debuted with $9.43 million, securing the third spot at the box office. Despite strong competition, the film’s performance is considered solid, especially given its mid-range budget. The sequel follows Christian Wolff (Affleck) as he teams up with his estranged brother Brax (Jon Bernthal) to uncover a conspiracy.
Other notable performers include Disney’s re-release of Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith, which earned $11.3 million, and the horror film Until Dawn, which brought in $3.2 million.
