Stay for Tomorrow, an alternative rock band originating from Dunfermline in 2018, has been recognized for their musical achievements with nominations at the Lowlands Music Awards. The band’s song “Lipstick Lips” has earned them a spot in two categories: ‘Best Rock Act’ and ‘Best Online Music Video’.
Nominated by an anonymous fan, the band members – Joe MacFarlane, Nic Holson, Sean Priestley, and Ollie Cobbett – expressed their honor and excitement at being considered by the awards’ judging panel.
Nic Holson shared, “We’d like to win but we’re not going to go in with the expectation that we are, we’ll go in with the expectation that we won’t and then if we do, it’ll be a nice surprise.”
In light of their nominations, the band members are preparing for the awards ceremony, which is reportedly a black-tie event. Nic Holson emphasized the significance of the nominations as a validation of their musical direction in a saturated industry.
He commented, “It’s just one of those nice things that cement for us that we are doing the right kind of thing. In any field but particularly in music, it can be so hard sometimes to know if you are doing the right thing and if people are engaging.”
The awards ceremony is scheduled to take place at The Biscuit Factory in Edinburgh on September 2nd. This event will also serve as a celebratory conclusion to the band’s three-day tour.
The tour commences at the Brasshouse in Dunfermline and is followed by performances at The Black Bull in Gateshead on August 25th. The tour concludes at Pilgrims Yard in Gloucester, where the band is set to play alongside the Thomas Nicholas Band, a group led by actor and musician Thomas Ian Nicholas, known for his role in the American Pie movies.
As part of their recent achievements, the band will release their new single “Always You” on streaming platforms. Notably, the tour also marks the departure of their current bassist, Ollie Cobbett, who leaves the band on good terms.
Nic Holson expressed appreciation for Cobbett’s contributions and wished him well in his future endeavors. He stated, “There’s absolutely no bad blood there and it’s definitely not musical differences… So it’s definitely not musical differences in this case! With Ollie leaving, we wish him well, we hope he keeps following the band and coming to gigs, but it’s life, it is what it is.”
