Fans of the beloved sitcom “How I Met Your Mother” (HIMYM) have something to look forward to as Hilary Duff takes the lead in a spin-off series titled “How I Met Your Father” (HIMYF), now streaming on Hulu. This new comedy series marks Duff’s return to television after her successful run on “Younger,” which lasted for seven seasons.
The pilot episode of “How I Met Your Father” was directed by Pam Fryman, known for directing an impressive 196 out of 208 episodes of the original HIMYM series. While the HIMYM finale left some fans with mixed feelings, the involvement of such creative talents from the original show is likely to excite many. The original series creators, Carter Bays and Craig Thomas, are back in the fold, and the series will be helmed by showrunners Isaac Aptaker and Elizabeth Berger.
In a statement provided to Deadline, Bays and Thomas expressed their enthusiasm for passing the torch to a new creative team, saying, “Kids, I’m going to tell you an incredible story: It’s the story of how two writers got lucky enough to make their dream TV show for nine seasons and now get to pass the torch to an inspired new creative team with their own incredible story to tell, the story of How I Met Your Father. We are honored by their passion and vision, and look forward to helping them tell a legendary new story. Thanks to all the HIMYM fans out there who waited for it.”
With a mix of nostalgia and fresh storytelling, “How I Met Your Father” promises to capture the essence of its predecessor while introducing a new generation of viewers to the legendary tales of love, friendship, and hilarious misadventures.
